as someone who (suspects that) they have ADHD, i have a complicated relationship with media. i'm either reading six books, watching two tv series and a movie, listening to new albums every days, and binging podcasts or i'm watching youtube shorts at 2am because i can't sleep or concentrate. there is no inbetween.
unfortunately, mostly for me, i'm usually in the latter mindset. "consuming" new media is hard for me. what if i don't like it? what if it's another waste of time and i could just be watching whatever the latest youtube drama is instead? why bother, right?
fucking WRONG BITCH! if it's something that you love or something that you're passionate about and enjoy, it's always worth the trouble!
and reading and watching movies and tv shows is important. it's the appreciate of an art form that's often reduced to "consuming" or "binging" or "streaming" and then tossing them to the side. however, we are a physical media household here on faintly macabre so read books are either cherished and reread or donate or sold to the local physcial media store. the same goes for movies watched or music listened to.
so this is going to be my media center. where, hopefully, i will end my dry spell with enjoying the entertaining arts and get back to enjoying them the way i did before my brain was so full of cotton balls and rot.
