RESOURCES
this section is for all the online resources for meia that i've collected over the years. most of these are both free and legal because i can't be bothered with actually pirating anything. i am, however, a huge proponant of sailing the high seas when needed. but before you resort to a life of booty and other riches, please check out your local library. you might just find that dvd copy of jason vs freddy in space within walking distance.
BOOKS
- Archive.org - looking for an obscure piece of media? want to read a library book online? archive has it. all of it. i'm not kidding.
- Open Library - Archive.org's answer to your local library
- Project Gutenberg - free public domain ebooks
- LibriVox - free public domain audio books read by volunteers. the quality will vary depending on who's reading.
- HorrorBabble - free public domain horror novels and short stories read by the immensely talented Ian Gordon. want to own their work? they also have a Bandcamp.
- Openreads - an open source alternative to Goodreads for people who really only want to track their stats without all the social media fuss in the way
MUSIC
- Bandcamp - a site to buy music from. they give an average of 82% of profits to the artists they host which is exponentially better than any streaming site.
- yt-dlp - a command line tool to download videos from youtube and perhaps, when used with VLC Media Player to convert said downloaded video to audio, to get some music. but i would never suggest such a thing. ever.
MOVIES & TV
- YouTube - youtube has been cracking down on copyrighted materials more and more lately, but they're still a good resource for public domain movies and tv shows. plus, you never know what slipped through their review process.
- Tubi - tubi is a truly unhiged streaming site. Sometimes you find fairly new stuff, sometimes you find that obscure italian movie from 1972. sometimes you find an in house produced horror movie that defies the laws of filmmaking.
- Pluto - pluto is more focused on live reruns of shows, but they do have a small collection of shows you can stream whenever.
- Freevee - freevee is owned by amazon (i know, i know) and since they're using uncle jeff's wallet, they have a pretty good selection.
VIDEO GAMES
- Kidpix - do you miss kidpix? well, don't. keep playing with it here!
- Need For MADNESS - a fun racing game i've been playing since... middle school. it's all about crashing and beating your oponants into a hunk of crumpled metal.
- Old Games Download - site full of abandonware
- Picrew - a site full of free dress up games
- Dollz Revival - a neocities project reviving the old dollz makers from the early 2000s
- Myrient - ROM archive site
- Vimm's Lair - ROM archive site
